Bring your dancing shoes!

After this week's Jazz Culture and Dance class, THE STOLEN SWEETS from Portland, Oregon will be playing at Dance Quarter for social dancing until midnight and possibly later. It sounds like a not to miss opportunity!
"Comprised of vocalists Jen Bernard, Lara Michell, and Erin Sutherland, guitarists Pete Krebs and David Langenes (both of whom sing) and double bass player Keith Brush, THE STOLEN SWEETS repertoire includes material from the 1920s-1940s. Their arrangements are inspired by the Boswell Sisters tight 3-part harmonies." http://www.stolensweets.com

New Orleans Moonshiners at Fringe Fest Tent this Saturday Nov 15th at 11pm. Corner of Press and Marigny in the Marigny. Free.

What started as a banjoist and a trombonist roaming around New Orleans, playing on the street, sitting in at clubs, and going wherever they could go to play jazz, has transformed into a collaboration of several dedicated young musicians with one goal in mind: carrying on the tradition of New Orleans style traditional jazz. With a median age of 27, the New Orleans Moonshiners represent the next generation of New Orleans jazz men and women. With a vision and a sound uniquely their own, their repertoire includes traditional spirituals, Tin Pan Alley, swing, and hot jazz from the 20’s.

The Courtyard Kings bring to Frenchmen Street their modern approach to gypsy swing popularized by Django Reinhardt in the 1930's. They perform at Yuki Izakaya, the Japan-inspired bar and restaurant next to Café Brasil. The bar is an intimate space, however, the bandstand is visible and audible at the front door, so dancing on the sidewalk is welcome.

The Courtyard Kings perform as a violin and guitar duo in the funky eclectic atmosphere at Mat and Naddie's Restaurant. Enjoy casual fine dining, or come in for a drink to hear the music.
