New Orleans Moonshiners at Fringe Fest Tent this Saturday Nov 15th at 11pm. Corner of Press and Marigny in the Marigny. Free.

What started as a banjoist and a trombonist roaming around New Orleans, playing on the street, sitting in at clubs, and going wherever they could go to play jazz, has transformed into a collaboration of several dedicated young musicians with one goal in mind: carrying on the tradition of New Orleans style traditional jazz. With a median age of 27, the New Orleans Moonshiners represent the next generation of New Orleans jazz men and women. With a vision and a sound uniquely their own, their repertoire includes traditional spirituals, Tin Pan Alley, swing, and hot jazz from the 20’s.

Come on out for the last Nickel-a-Dance of the season at Ray's Boom Boom Room. Don Vappie's perfect for shagging, Charleston, and traditional jazz dance. So if you're taking Chance and Nathalie's Jazz Gathering classes, or you took the collegiate shag workshop, come out and practice. Don Vappie's Creole Serenaders are fantastic!

My friend Lita just sent this to me; she is an avid Folk and Contra dancer.:
"Make space on your calendar for Monday night, 10 November. A fabulous
Bulgarian band, Kabile, is coming to New Orleans. Where: Grace Episcopal
Church on Canal Street (1 block towards the river from Mandina's).
Tentative starting time: 7 PM. Cost: undecided, it'll be between $10 and 12.
This is a "concert/ dance". They are billed as a "wedding" band - a very
high accolade in Bulgaria. Think more in terms of "party" band. The only
reason they are coming here is because one of our dancers knows the band
